Class 7c wishes Team Holmatro Good luck in Almería
10/8/2009
'The Achthoek' is a school located in Amsterdam just across the arena where the iShares Cup Amsterdam took place. A great reason for this school class to make a project of these lovely and colourful catamarans.
Building an Extreme 40

Class 7c proudly showing their models ánd caps The project was to build the Extreme 40's participating in the iShares Cup (on scale of course). They started on the first day (Media day) to make drawings of the catamarans so they could be built. The children checked the hull, the mast and the sails. Once back in class, they started building what they had seen. With ice-cream sticks the hull was built and slowly the trampoline made of jute, mast of sate sticks and sails where constructed with string and tape. Important was the scale, this had to be just right. Figuring this out was quite a puzzle, but it all worked out well. Everyone could choose his or her favourite catamaran and draw the sail.

All the scale models in class
On Friday the class took out the scales and brought them out to the public that was present on the quay and this got great attention. All this happened when Holmatro won the race!! So to thank the great applause of these school children they all received a Holmatro Sailing Team cap.
